• Ecover’s Inside Access to Study’s Fall 2011 Collection from Tara St. James’ During New York Fashion Week

We were elated to be a sponsor of Study’s Fall 2011 Show at the very posh Standard Hotel in downtown Manhattan. Since we’re so fond of the designer Tara St. James and her transparent label, we naturally wanted to give you inside access to the show, too!

St. James’ designs were anything but ordinary and the collection’s presentation was right on par with the label’s M.O.; authentic, progressive and beautiful. The models sheepishly walked down a runway filled with school desks and chairs, holding a shiny red apple in their hands. At the end of the runway, each of these “school girls” gently placed the apple on “the teacher’s desk” as she posed for a horde of journalists and photographers. Ambient, trance-like music and a woodsy scent by A Perfume Organic filled the air, but the models’ clothing was what truly stole the show.

It may have been her use of fabrics blew us away the most, though! It wasn’t just the zero-waste pattern-making process that we found impressive; it was her use of vast and varied materials. From recycled hemp, polyester, and Tencel to organic cottons, reclaimed wool and recycled ultrasuede, her ingenuity pushed the boundaries of what it is to besustainable fashion. St. James even sourced wild silk textile from silkworm cocoons from Madagascar!

From one honest brand to another, we congratulate Study for the spectacular new Fall 2011 Collection!
